2. About meeting and host
This conference was arranged by
two well-known societies in chemistry field;
1) RSC: Royal Society of Chemistry 2) NOST: National Organic Symposium Trust
detailed information about these two hosts and meeting described as follows.
RSC: Royal Society of Chemistry
The Royal Society of Chemistry
(RSC) is a learned society (professional association) in the United Kingdom. Society
had a combined membership of 34,000 in the UK and a further 8,000 abroad. The
organisation carries out research, publishes journals, books and databases, as
well as hosting conferences, seminars and workshops. It is the professional
body for chemistry in the UK. The designation FRSC is given to a group of
elected Fellows who have made major contributions to chemistry.

NOST: National Organic Symposium Trust
National Organic Chemistry Symposium Trust (NOST) was established to
promote organic chemistry research and teaching in India and worldwide through
the voluntary efforts and commitment of the organic chemistry community.
It is a forum to nurture and
promote organic chemistry in India and foster linkages with the community of
organic chemists worldwide to harness the interdisciplinary potential of this
branch of science and enhance its powerful interface with pharmaceutical
industry.
3. Official programme
3.1 Wednesday, December 4
The symposium officially began
with introductory remarks by Prof. V. K. Singh after words scientific sessions
started with oral presentations.
All presenters give the
excellent presentation in the different fields of organic synthesis.
Poster session (I) started at
3:15-4:15 I was the presenter for this session. I present our recent studies
under the title “Utilization of an aqueous B-alkyl Suzuki cross
coupling reaction for the synthesis of 1,5-diphenylpent-3-en-1-yne derivatives”
During this presentation I interact with audience by answering their questions.
Remaining day I
attended the presentations on biologically related molecules and process,
asymmetric reactions and synthesis, total synthesis of complex molecules.
3.2 Thursday, December 5
Oral session start at morning
08:45 am on carbocyclic chemistry through whole day different professors and researchers
give oral presentations on heterocyclic and aromatics, new reactions and methodology,
organic synthesis, green chemistry, and metal mediated reactions.
3.3 Friday, December 6
Oral session start at morning
08:45 am on C-H amination reactions through whole day different professors and
researchers give oral presentations on total synthesis, cycloadition reactions,
synthesis of pharmaceutically important molecules, transition metal free
reactions, new reactions and methodology, organic synthesis, green chemistry,
and metal mediated reactions.
At afternoon from 03:00 pm- 04:00
pm I joined the poster session (II) in which different posters in field of
organic chemistry watched.
At evening conference was over
by concluding remarks.
4. Participants’ experience
In this three day conference I
attend the world class presentations and I learn the lot of things from these
presentations such as how peoples present their ideas, presentation styles and
preparations. How they answer the questions. I also participate several times
in questions and answer sessions where I learned how to develop new ideas with
creativity, how peoples are using new techniques for their research. How to
publish your research soon and in good journals.
I also got new ideas from
different research areas like organic synthesis, medicinal chemistry,
enantioselective catalysis, new reactions and methodology, green chemistry and
metal mediated reactions during this meeting which may lead a quality
publication in future.
5. Summary and future perspectives
Attending the Junior National Organic Chemistry Symposium Trust (JNOST) IISER, Bhopal, India.
December 04-06, 2013.
I come to know the international
conferences, meetings and seminars is a good opportunity to expand our horizons
where we can see the latest and the most new ideas, research, concepts and
techniques which will be useful for our study.
Due to this meeting I got chance to represent our
school globally. To discover new research and publish our work, learn
new technologies which will help me to advance
my career. I also share ideas,
knowledge and interact with famous professors and researchers in my research
area from all over the world. This will definitely help in future for
collaboration of Kaohsiung Medical University and other schools from different
part of the world.
6. Acknowledgments
I would like to my sincere
thanks for the Office of Global Affairs (OGA), Kaohsiung Medical University for
financial support and giving me the opportunity to attend the Junior
National Organic Chemistry Symposium Trust (JNOST) IISER, Bhopal, India.
December 04-06, 2013.
I am also thankful for professor
Fang-Rong Chang and professor Jeh-Jeng Wang for their
continuous support and inspiration to attend this symposium. I
would like also thanks to all my lab mates and collogues for their kind help
and guidance for OGA grant application procedures and suggestion
and comments, advice for preparation of poster.
